Description
Standard issue WWII German 6×30 power binoculars, in a painted black finish, complete with original leather strap. The binoculars are manufactured from metal alloy with molded black Bakelite fittings.
Manufacturered by Voigtlaender and Sohn, Braunschweig, the right hand ocular is impressed with the designation Dienstglas 6×30 with serial number 239283, the maker code ddx and cold weather lubricant triangle.
Dienstglas 6x30 Ddx Serial Numbers. This can apply to models with either the grid or rarer L-shaped style reticule pattern. This grid pattern feature is used for ranging using lines graduated at 10 mil intervals where the H/6400 is a common artillery scale used by the Wehrmacht where the ‘H’ stands for Heer. The right hand plate is stamped ‘Dienstglas’ ‘6×30′ and the part code H/6400. They have the serial number 104683.The brass aluminium body work is ingood shape, with some rubbed paint and abrasion on the raised areas commensurate with use. The individual focus adjustments still functions. The lens bodies and end pieces retain most of their painted, black finish. They have both moulded Bakelite eye sockets intact. The optics are in reasonable condition and like a lot of wartime optics could do with a clean. The leather strap is in good condition.
A fine used wartime pair. Vortex failed to deploy mods.

The Dienstglas 6x30 (or Doppelfernrohr, Doppelglas, 'Double-glass') is a special field issue tool used by the German Army during World War II. These units were manufactured by many different plants throughout Germany during the war, and were produced to meet a 6-power design requirement. The Diesnstglas is comprised of various metals, is coated in a black lacquer, and finalized with leather, synthetic rubber, and bakelite for ergonomic comfort. They were either worn around the neck on a leather strap, or held in special holsters. Service binoculars were issued to officers, NCOs, artillery spotters, aircraft, and snipers. The Dienstglas was used extensively for reconnaissance, and proved invaluable in tactical and support roles throughout World War II.[1] 1917 enfield eddystone serial numbers.
